If you own a Private Investigation Business, and agree that your business will adhere to our code of ethics and our bylaws, for the cost of your corporate registration you will receive:

  • A free individual membership for the PI business owner
  • Free use of our PIABC logo in your advertising as long as you and your firm are in good standing with PIABC
  • Recognition as belonging to the only Professional Association in BC for Professional Investigators
  • Free marketing of your business services using our PIABC website, publicity and networking campaigns

Not all applicants for PIABC memberships and business registration are necessarily accepted. PIABC retains the right to refuse membership or business registration applications at its sole discretion.

Membership Types

Individual membership

Individual membership is currently $90.00 per Membership Year and can be applied for if you are currently a Licensed Professional Investigators or Security Consultant by the Province of British Columbia. This includes investigators with unrestricted licenses as well as those with ‘under-supervision’ licenses.

Only Individual Members have voting privileges and can hold a position on the Board of Directors within the Association.

Corporate Registration

Corporate Registration includes one (1) individual membership application and is currently $200.00 per Membership Year.  The Business can be incorporated, partnerships or proprietorships and must have a current Security Agency License with the Province of British Columbia.  The Corporate Registrant is not a membership but it is considered a Corporate Registrant of PIABC.  The registration includes additional benefits to the business, such as business advertising and marketing as well as business insurance discounts. The insurance savings offered by our recommended insurance brokers often more than offsets the cost of registering a firm with PIABC. Businesses applying for registration with PIABC commit to adhering to the same ethics and standards as all its members.

Associate Memberships

Associate Memberships is $25.00 per Membership year and it has the same privileges as Individual members pertaining to receiving information and personal attendance at the PIABC meetings. These memberships are available to:

  • Professional Investigators or Security Consultants permanently residing outside of British Columbia and currently licensed in that particular jurisdiction.
  • Lawyers who are current members of the Law Society of British Columbia and other similar societies in other jurisdictions.
